Lady Falcons shoot down Lady Eagles, FEU eliminated

By Anton Roxas Posted Sep 18th 2013

Adamson bagged the last Final Four berth in women's basketball and eliminated last year's champion FEU even as DLSU earned the number two spot.

Adamson University repelled a valiant effort by Ateneo de Manila University to prevail, 59-50, in the final game of the elimination round of the UAAP Season 76 Women’s basketball tournament on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Joy Cochico led the way for the Lady Falcons as she finished with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Adamson capitalized on the 25 turnovers committed by the Lady Eagles by scoring 21 points off of those miscues.

With 8 wins and 6 losses, Adamson landed the fourth spot in the Final Four and in the process knocked out defending champion Far Eastern University, whose record stands at 7-7.

The Lady Eagles finished the season dead last with only 1 win and 13 defeats. Adamson will play number one ranked National University (12-2) in the Final Four.

In the first game, De La Salle University won against the University of the East, 82-58 to finish the elimination round at 12-2. Although they have the same record as NU, the Lady Bulldogs have the better quotient as compared to DLSU, thus giving them first place.

UE ended their season at seventh place with a 2-12 win-loss card.
