With one down, the Warriors are going for more.
University of the East aims to gather steam in their 76th UAAP men's basketball tournament campaign when they battle Adamson University at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Fresh off a close win over top contender National University on Saturday, the Red Warriors hope the momentum continues against the Soaring Falcons as they attempt to close in on the early leaders.
Roi Sumang completed a four-point play to lift UE over the Bulldogs and the wily point guard will once more be relied upon to deliver the goods for the Recto five.
"The most important thing in the UAAP is the first win," said coach Boycie Zamar, whose boys got whipped by Far Eastern University in their opening game. "Hopefully, we bring this kind of game against Adamson."
The Warriors' big men corps of Charles Mammie, Adi Santos and Chris Javier will have their hands full against the Falcons' bruising tandem of Ingrid Sewa and Rodney Brondial.
"We respect them," Zamar said of Adamson. "But we will definitely work hard on both offense and defense."
Jericho Cruz will catalyze the Falcons' attack anew, and the rising star could only hope that he could get more help from the backcourt in Ryan Monteclaro and from snipers in Roider Cabrera and Don Trollano.
The game will air live on Studio 23, BALLS HD 167 and uaapsports.tv with a replay tonight at 9 p.m. on BALLS SkyCable channel 34/ Destiny Cable channel 36.
