Dyke’s monster double-double powers Bullpups past UE for 12th win

NU's Mark Dyke came up with a monster performances to keep the Bullpups just two wins away from a sweep of the UAAP Jrs. Basketball elimination round.

Rookie Power Forward Mark Dyke exploded for a season-high 25 points and 22 rebounds to lead National University over the University of the East, 70-60 in the UAAP Season 76 Juniors basketball tournament on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at the Blue Eagle Gym in Quezon City. The Bullpups improved their record to 12-0 and are now just two wins away from completing an elimination round sweep.

The University of the Philippines shocked Far Eastern University-Diliman, beating them 55-51 in the first game. A lethargic start by the defending champions led to their downfall as the Junior Maroons established a 16-0 lead in the first quarter.

UPIS notched their third win of the season while the Baby Tamaraws fell back to the .500 mark with a 6-6 record.

Leading MVP candidate Thirdy Ravena unleashed a triple-double to carry Ateneo de Manila University over the University of Sto. Tomas, 79-63. Ravena finished with 16 points, 17 boards and 10 assists for the Blue Eaglets, who improved their win-loss record to 10-2.

In the last game, De La Salle-Zobel smashed Adamson University 65-47 to remain at third place with a 9-3 record.
