Recap: NU earns first ever Women’s Tennis crown

National University staved off elimination and defeated De La Salle University, 67-52, in Game 2 of the best-of-three series in the UAAP Season 76 Women’s basketball Finals on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
After tallying a measly 3 points in Game 1, starting point guard Andrea Tongco came alive and exploded for a career-high 23 points. Afril Bernardino also bounced back from a miserable last game and came up with a double-double performance of 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Trisha Piatos was the lone bright spot for the Lady Archers as she tallied a team-high 14 points. Ara Abaca was limited to just 6 points on 2 for 8 shooting from the field but she did grab 11 boards.
DLSU only managed 9 points in the third quarter as NU went on a 12-0 run at what turned out to be the most crucial period of the game. The Lady Archers also shot poorly from the field, going 4 for 21 from three point range for 19% and 14 for 46 from two point range for just 26,9%. On the other hand, the Lady Bulldogs shot 55.6% from downtown and 44.4% from inside the arc.
Game 3 will take place on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the Araneta Coliseum.
