University of Santo Tomas hopes to build momentum heading into 2014 when the Tigresses battle Adamson University in the 76th UAAP women's volleyball tournament Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
The Tigresses whacked University of the East in their last game, with Carmela Tunay and rookie Ria Meneses shining with 14 and 11 points, respectively.
The win pushed UST to 2-1, a game ahead of the 1 - 2 Lady Falcons, whom they will battle at 4:00 pm.
In a match between teams billed as Final Four contenders, Adamson got clobbered by Ateneo de Manila University last Saturday, as the Lady Falcons' porous defense were unable to stop yet another explosion by Alyssa Valdez.
Shiela Pineda delivered her regular output, but other Adamson gunners Mandy Villanueva and Mayette Zapanta were unusually silent as the Lady Eagles' tall blockers proved to be their downfall.
The San Marcelino-based squad will try to recover against UST and end the year on a positive note.
The game will air live over Studio 23, BALLS HD 167 and uaapsports.tv with a same day replay at 11 p.m. on BALLS SkyCable channel 34 or Destiny Cable channel 36.
