NU takes on enigmatic Adamson

By Josiah Albelda Posted Jan 12th 2014

National University eyes its fourth straight victory when it takes on unpredictable Adamson University.

Adamson University targets a big name in National University when the two teams clash in the 76th UAAP women's volleyball tournament Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The enigmatic Lady Falcons have won their last two games and hope to score one against a team in the upper echelon of the standings in their 2:00pm matchup at the world-class venue.

Adamson's one-two punch in Bang Pineda and Mandy Villanueva combined for 30 points in the San Marcelino-based squad's four-set win over University of the East last Sunday, but would need more than that against the Lady Bulldogs.

Save for a crushing loss to De La Salle University, NU has been in control throughout the season, dominating foes like it was expected to do behind the leadership of Dindin Santiago.

The Lady Bulldogs haven't dropped a set in their five wins, with Santiago averaging 16.8 points per outing and younger sister Jaja helping with 10 markers per game.

NU's attack has been spot-on as they lead the UAAP in conversion rate at 38.82%.

That leaves the the Lady Falcons defense, even with their top-ranked digging, with so much to do as they hope to move above .500 at the end of the first round.

The game will air live on Studio 23, BALLS HD 167 and uaapsports.tv with a same day replay starting 8 p.m. on BALLS SkyCable channel 34/ Destiny Cable channel 36.
