De La Salle University utilized a fast paced offensive attack to surprise National University, 72-48 in Game 1 of the best-of-three UAAP Season 76 Women’s basketball Finals on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
The Lady Archers tallied 20 points on the fast break and scored 24 points off NU’s 29 turnovers. DLSU also made a conscious effort to share the ball as they registered a whopping 20 assists.
Four DLSU players scored in double-digits led by ace forward Ara Abaca who topscored for the Lady Archers with 16 points to go along with her 11 rebounds. Crafty combo guard Trisha Piatos uncorked 4 triples to finish with 15 points while Cassandra Santos and Nicole Garcia contributed 11 points apiece.
Starting point guard Miller Ong showed excellent court generalship as she dished out 10 assists and grabbed 7 boards.
NU was led by Anne Gupilan who came up with 15 points, 12 rebounds and 5 steals in a losing effort.
Game 2 will take place on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
