Nicole Yu knew there was something new the moment people kept adding her on Facebook. When she went on to check her Twitter, she says everything just exploded.
"Why are people following me?" Yu exclaimed in disbelief when she recalled that moment. "And then ABS-CBN just tweeted that I will be FEU's courtside reporter."
It was a totally new break for Yu, and with all the time she spent as a theatre actress, events host, and radio jock, she'll eventually be able to handle it.
"I was chosen for a reason and they probably saw something in me," she said. "I know it takes a lot of trust to give this task to me and I want to come up with the best report possible."
The 20-year-old accountancy major says she loves math more than anything else. But since she lived her teenage years exploring every single field there is, she did not hesitate to grab the opportunity when she stumbled upon the auditions.
"I've always been a fan of communication. I love math but I juggle it with other things," shared Yu, who is also a contributing writer for a newspaper.
Yu admits sports will be totally different from the previous gimmicks she's had in the past, but she is willing to work double-time to know more about her new world.
"I am ready and I want ABS-CBN to know they made the right choice. I just try to involve myself in things that would allow me to grow."
The Zamboangena added she still freaks out a lot, but she'll try her best to be prepared for the challenge of representing her alma mater.
"It' more about them. I'm just here to report about what they do," she added.
And when the Tamaraws begin their Season 77 campaign, Yu promises to deliver.
"Game ako lagi. Chill lang. Go FEU!"
