Abaca, Lady Archers stop UP for ninth win

Ara Abaca and the rest of the DLSU Lady Archers remained in third place after defeating UP.

De La Salle University held back a furious challenge by University of the Philippines to prevail 71-64 in the UAAP Season 76 Women’s basketball tournament on Sunday, September 08, 2013 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Ara Abaca paced the Lady Archers with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

With the win, DLSU remained at third place with a 9-2 record while the Lady Maroons dropped to 5-8.

In the first game, Adamson University dismantled the University of the East 82-57.

Three Lady Falcons reached double figure scoring led by Jinky Balasta who finished with a game-high 19 points.

Adamson tallied their fifth win of the season for a 5-7 record as the Lady Warriors absorbed their eleventh loss in twelve games.
