De La Salle University is off to its best start in recent memory as they defeated defending champion Ateneo de Manila University, 13-6 in the UAAP Season 76 Baseball tournament on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Just like in their first game against National University, the Green Batters stormed out the gates and tallied 7 runs in the first three innings. The Blue Batters were able to score two runs at the bottom of the third but La Salle kept rolling as they scored at least one run from the fourth to the sixth inning.
At the top of the ninth, La Salle already held a commanding 12-6 and they would tally one last run and play excellent defense to stun Ateneo.
La Salle is the now only remaining unbeaten team in the league with a 2-0 record. The Blue Batters are 1-1 after the loss.
The other two matchups saw NU demolish the University of Sto. Tomas, 13-0 as Adamson University bested the University of the Philippines, 5-4.
