The DLSU Lady Spikers swept the first round of the UAAP 76 women's volleyball tournament.

De La Salle University completed a first round sweep in the UAAP 76 women's volleyball tournament after repulsing University of the East in straight sets, 25 - 12, 25 - 18 and 25 - 20, at the Filoil Flying V Arena on Wednesday.

Showing vast superior talent over their overmatched opponents, La Salle coach Ramil de Jesus had the luxury of emptying his bench as seldom-used Mary Joy Bayron, Kim Dy, Denice Tan and Dawn Macandili managed to get extended playing time for the Lady Spikers.

It was the seventh straight victory for DLSU this season and 23rd overall dating back to opening weekend of Season 75. The Lady Spikers also stretched their winning run to 27 consecutive sets since Game 1 of the Season 75 Finals.

Ara Galang led the three-time defending champions with 13 points on 11 attacks and a pair of service aces.

Meanwhile, the Lady Warriors finished the first round without a win in seven outings. They also absorbed their 24th straight setback dating back to Season 74.

Captain Faith Bulan paced UE with 10 points on 10 attacks.
