The FEU Lady Tamaraws survived the Adamson Lady Falcons to notch solo fourth place at the end of the first round.

Far Eastern University flirted with disaster before outlasting Adamson University in five sets, 25-21, 25-20, 29-31, 19-25 and 15-10, at the end of the first round in the UAAP 76 women's volleyball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan City on Wednesday.

Leading by as much as six points in the third set, the Lady Tamaraws allowed the Lady Falcons to storm back and take the set, 31 - 29.

Behind Shiela Pineda, Adamson used its momentum to force a decisive fifth set.

However, FEU finally regained composure and took the final set for its second consecutive triumph to finish the first round in solo fourth place at 4 - 3.

Rookie Bernadette Pons led four Lady Tamaraws in double figures with a career-high 27 points.

Adamson, which absorbed back-to-back losses and slipped to fifth place at 3 - 4, was powered by Pineda with a season-high 29 markers.
