Recap: NU earns first ever Women’s Tennis crown

Ateneo de Manila University got back on the winnning track after defeating University of the Philippines in straight sets, 25-15, 25-14 and 26-24, in the UAAP 76 women's volleyball tournament Wednesday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan City.
The Lady Eagles, who were coming off consecutive losses to league-leading De La Salle University, improved to 6 - 3 and remained in third place.
Alyssa Valdez recovered from back-to-back sub-par performances against La Salle as she recorded a game-high 19 points on 14 attacks and a pair of blocks against UP.
Ateneo dominated the spiking department as they had 45 spikes to UP's 19. The Lady Eagles also had more services aces, 13 to 1.
Meanwhile, the Lady Maroons have now dropped their first two assignments in the second round and fell to 1 - 8 for sixth place.
No Lady Maroon finished in double figures. Captain Angeli Araneta led State U with only eight points.
