De La Salle University stakes its clean record once more as it battles dangerous Adamson University today in the 76th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at the Philsports Arena.
The four-peat seeking Lady Spikers gun (8-0) for their night straight victory against the Final Four-contending Lady Falcons (4-4) at 4 p.m.
More importantly, a victory by the league-leaders will punch them through an outright Final Four ticket deep into the second phase of hostilities.
Adamson for its part seeks vengeance nonetheless, aside from a measure of bragging rights by becoming the first team to beat the Lady Spikers this season. The Lady Falcons bowed to the Lady Spikers, 25-14, 25-22, 25-19, back in the first round.
If the Lady Falcons does so, then they will move up to solo fourth place at 5-4, provided Far Eastern University (FEU) gets ambushed by University of the Philippines later on.
La Salle is coming off a 25-14, 25-14, 25-19 whipping of Ateneo de Manila University last Sunday to notch its eight straight win.
Graduating captain Abi Marano, Cyd Demecillo, and Mika Reyes fueled La Salle’s methodical whipping of the Lady Eagles, whose defense looked visibly out-of-sync to counter the power and placement of the Lady Spikers.
Marano scored ten points while Demecillo and Reyes added eight apiece to lead La Salle’s balance offensive.
Defensively, the Lady Spikers were as just unforgiving, limiting Ateneo star Alyssa Valdez to only ten points while the rest of the Lady Eagles combined for a measly 15 points.
On the other hand, Adamson clawed University of the Philippines, 25-15, 25-9, 25-19, last Sunday to tie FEU at fourth place.
Veterans Amanda Villanueva and Sheila Pineda led the Lady Falcons with 14 and 13 points, respectively while Mayette Zapanta, Faye Guevara, and Mylene Paat tallied nine apiece to highlight Adamson’s offensive might against the Lady Maroons.
The game will air live over ABS-CBN Sports+Action, BALLS SkyCable HD 167 and uaapsports.tv with a same day replay on BALLS SkyCable channel 34/ Destiny Cable channel 36 starting at 9 p.m.
