Recap: NU earns first ever Women’s Tennis crown

De La Salle University maintained its impressive showing in the UAAP Season 76 Baseball tournament as it extinguished a comeback attempt by the University of the Philippines to win, 8-7 on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
The Green Batters held an 8-3 advantage before the Fighting Maroons made things interesting in the ninth inning by catching fire and tallying four runs to cut the deficit. But, in the end, La Salle’s defense hung tough as they preserved their immaculate record, which now stands at 5-0.
After winning its first game three days ago, UP plummeted back to loss column and now sports a 1-3 record.
In the rematch between the two teams that competed in the past two Finals series’ in the league, Ateneo de Manila University prevailed, 3-2 against National University to improve their record to 4-1. It’s been a rocky season so far for the Bulldogs, whose record dropped to 1-3.
Lastly, the University of Sto. Tomas snatched its first win of the season after beating Adamson University, 12-5.
The Tigers’ record now stands at 1-3, identical to that of the Falcons.
