NU Men and Women fend off respective foes to stay unbeaten

Both the men and women's teams of NU have been lording it over in lawn tennis this season as they stayed unbeaten after the fourth day of the tournament.

Last year, National University won its first Lawn Tennis championship in the men’s division. This year, in the 76th season of the UAAP, it is not only the men who are experiencing success on the court but the Women as well.

The Bulldogs took out De La Salle University, 4-1 in their matchup last Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the Olivares Sports Center to improve their record to 4-0 while the Green Archers fell to 1-3.

League MVP Leander Lazaro defeated La Salle’s Lance Canizares, 6-2, 6-4 to remain unbeaten in 3 Singles matches in the tournament.

Ateneo de Manila finally managed to snatch a win after beating the University of the East 3-1. The Blue Eagles’ record now stands at 1-3 while the Red Warriors remained winless at 0-4.

After winning in the first three game days of the season, the University of Sto. Tomas faltered as they succumbed to the University of the Philippines who beat them, 3-2.
The Tigers and the Fighting Maroons now hold identical 3-1 record and trail league-leading NU at second place.

In the Women’s division, NU also remained unbeaten after crushing UST, 5-0. The Lady Bulldogs increased their win total to three games while the Tigresses suffered their first loss of the tournament after winning their first two games.

Defending champion La Salle defeated Ateneo de Manila University, 4-1 to improve their record to 2-1as the Lady Eagles remained winless at 0-3.
