Far Eastern University continued its winning ways on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 in the UAAP Season 76 Men’s Volleyball tournament, but not without exerting a lot of energy as it outlasted the University of Sto. Tomas in five grueling sets, 25-16, 13-25, 20-25, 25-17, 15-13.
Team Captain Karl dela Calzada unleashed 23 points for the Tamaraws who won their second straight match to improve to 7-2.
Mark Alfafara, who leads the league in scoring, finished with 22 points in a losing effort for the Tigers, who fell below .500 at 4-5.
In the second match, Ateneo de Manila University survived a tiring five set match of their own. The Loyola Heights based squad defeated De La Salle University, 25-21, 26-28, 12-25, 25-9, 15-9 to extend their win streak to four games.
Marck Espejo once again carried the Blue Spikers with 25 points.
Ateneo improved to 6-3 while the Green Spikers fell to 3-6.
