Ateneo de Manila University had all the odds stacked up against them. But, they refused to make any excuses.
Despite coming into the game with a five-game win streak, the University of Sto. Tomas failed to capitalize on their momentum as they suffered a shocking defeat at the hands of the Lady Eagles, 5-3 in the UAAP Season 76 Softball tournament on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
The Lady Eagles captured only their second win of the season in nine games while the Tigresses saw their win streak evaporate and record drop to 6-2, just a game ahead of third place National University (5-3), who won over De La Salle University, 7-6.
In the third game, the University of the East narrowly beat the University of the Philippines, 5-4.
