The first round of eliminations in the UAAP Season 76 Baseball tournament ended with UP and Adamson racking up victories.

The first round of eliminations in the UAAP Season 76 Baseball tournament concluded on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium with the University of the Philippines and Adamson University racking up victories in separate games.

Last January 5, UP figured in a tight game against the University of Sto. Tomas, but due to insufficient lighting at the venue, the game was put to a halt after the 6th inning with the Fighting Maroons ahead, 7-5.

After eighteen days, the outcome of that game was finally decided with UP winning over the Tigers, 14-13.

UP finished the first round with a 2-3 record while UST fell to 1-4.

The last game of the first round saw Adamson University deal National University a 4-2 loss to snatch their second win of the season against 3 defeats. On the other hand, the Bulldogs suffered their fourth beating in five games in what has been a nightmare of a season so far for them after making it to the Finals in the past two seasons.

Idle De La Salle University and Ateneo de Manila University are ranked in at first and second place respectively. The Green Batters are at 5-0 while the Blue Batters sport a 4-1 record.
